AN Design Awards
I was asked to develop a new visual vocabulary for a publication that would showcase our Fourth Annual Best of Design Awards, a unique project-based awards program that showcases great buildings and building elements.
My challenge was to layout the winners and honorable mentions of the 26 categories in a way that WOULD reflect AN’s editorial STYLE, the prestige of the award, as well as the interests and obsessions of our readers.
AN Interior
AN Interior is an off-shoot publication of The Architect’s Newspaper that focuses on Interior Design imagined and executed by Architects. We opted to go with something more contained and modern with this design. An identity that conveyed our usual tone of content-first allegiance while using a different but related aesthetic to The Architect’s Newspaper.
The Architect’s Newspaper
A fairly recent and typical issue of The Architect’s Newspaper. This particular issue has a feature, Emerging Voices, devoted to burgeoning talent in the architecture world.
The Architect’s Newspaper Supplement
Ranging from kitchens to facades to operable walls, The Architect’s Newspaper frequently produces “special sections” that cover different materials and products. Through case studies and product features, this section has been designed to stand apart from the normal issue so that readers can devote their attention to the unique and ever-changing trends and developments in each of the respective categories.
The Architect’s Newspaper Best of Product Awards
The paper hosted another competition for the best products from over hundreds of entries, covering everything from residential furnishings to smart home systems and facade products. It fell onto me to create another insert that would showcase the winners and honorable mentions in each category. Here’s what I came up with.
